Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, Ireland hosted an Eid Dinner in honour of parliamentarians and local friends in Westmanstown Sports & Conference Centre on 19th October 2013. This prestigious and exclusive event featured dignitaries like Cllr. Eam Tuffy Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Joanna Tuffy Labour TD, Robert Dowds Labour TD and Sean Crowe Sinn Fein TD. Other friends of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community who graced the auspicious occasion were Sister Mary Ward and Yanky Fachler representatives from local church and Jews community respectively, and members of local Garda Siochana.
To acquaint the honourable guests with the significance of this day, which is celebrated to highlight the importance of sacrifice, service to humanity, and gratefulness to God and marks Prophet Abraham’s symbolic sacrifice, a short presentation including a brief introduction on Islam and Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was given by Dr. Aleem Uddin.
This was followed by a sumptuous dinner which comprised of a spicy curry dish to give the guests a taste of traditional food served on Eid day in the sub-continent.
At the end, Dr. Muhammad Anwar Malik, National president of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community thanked all the guests for their participation on this very important Muslim festival. This function was attended by 25 members and guests.
