Charity Walk 2019 Galway

By the Grace of Allah, on Sunday the 15th of September 2019, Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Ireland held it’s 5th Annual Charity walk in Salthill, Galway. These 5K charity walks have become a regular feature of the khuddam calendar in recent years, and have raised over €25,000 for local charities since its inception.

The registration started at 11:00am. The mayor of Galway Councillor Mike Cubbard also joined to formally inaugurate the walk.The event began at around 12:00 with recitation of the Holy Quran with translation. Representatives from all 3 charities said introductory remarks. The mayor also spoke briefly and appreciated the work carried out by the community.

Inspite of rainshowers and cloudy day, people enjoyed the walk at the most visited and scenic coastiline walking trail in Galway.

Community members from all over Ireland as well as Irish people attended the walk. Many Irish people got introduction of Jama’at and had a chance to speak with our Jama’at members.There were 14 volunteers provided by the charities who were assigned different tasks.Participants were served  with light refreshments and a lunch box was provided to all after finishing the walk. Lajna members had also set up a foot tent with delicious home made snacks to raise some funds for the charity walk.

Alhamdolillah, Majlish Khuddamul Ahmadiyya managed to collect over 10000 euros with around 37 % contribution from Lajna imaillah and Nasiraat’s efforts.

Funds from this year’s collections are to be distributed between three local charities; Croí Heart Foundation, Galway Simon Community & Cope Galway.

The total participation was over 100 people.
